HOW TO BECOME INVOLVED IN EMERGENCY SERVICES

  1. Familiarize yourself with CAPR-60-3, CAP Emergency Services Training and Operational Missions 
  • Go to http://www.capmembers.com/.
  • Click on “Forms, Publications and Regulations” in vertical menu on the left side of the web page.
  • Click on “Indexes, Regulations and Manuals” in vertical menu on the left side of the web page.
  • Scroll down to and click on publication number “R60-3” to open and read.*
  1. Complete requirements and obtain a “General Emergency Services” (GES) Emergency Services Specialty Rating utilizing the “Specialty Qualification Training Record” (SQTR)
  • Per CAPR 60-3, para. 2.3e., “Successful completion of the current CAPT 116, ‘General Emergency Services Questionnaire’ and ‘OPSEC Training’, qualifies the member in the General Emergency Services Specialty Rating.

To complete CAPT 116 (GES Questionnaire):

˗ Go to http://www.capmembers.com/

˗ Click on “Emergency Services” in the vertical menu on the left side of the web page.

˗ Click on “Operations Support” in the vertical menu on the left side of the web page.

˗ Click on “Education and Training” in the vertical menu on the left side of the web page.

˗ Click on “General Emergency Services Materials” in the second paragraph of text.

˗ Click on and go through General Emergency Services Slides (PowerPoint) presentation.

˗ Click on and complete General Emergency Services Questionnaire. **

To Complete OPSEC Training:

˗ Go to http://www.capmembers.com/

˗ Click on “Emergency Services” in the vertical menu on the left side of the web page.

˗ Click on “Operations Support” in the vertical menu on the left side of the web page.

˗ Click on “Education and Training” in the vertical menu on the left side of the web page.

˗ Click on “Operational Security” in the vertical menu on the left side of the web page.

˗ Open and minimize related document Operational Security (OPSEC) - April 2012 for later referral or go directly to https://tests.capnhq.gov/opsec (hyperlink in text) for training.

  1. After Seniors complete Level 1 in the Senior Professional Development Program and Cadets complete Achievement 1 in the Cadet Program and they complete the requirements for the GES ES specialty each member needs to submit that specialty for validation and, upon validation, print out his or her CAPF 101 (CAP 101 card) To do this:
  • Go to the CAP e-Services website at:     https://www.capnhq.gov/CAP.eServices.Web/default.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fCAP.eServices.Web%2feServices.aspx 
  • Under “First Time Users?” click on “Click here to register” and set up your e-Services account. †
  • Once successfully registered go to the e-Services home page and click on “Operations Qualifications”.
  • On the Operations Qualifications home page read the instructions under the hypertexted “SQTR Instructions”
  • Upon completion close the instructions then click on “Entry/View Worksheet”.
  • You will be prompted to enter your CAPID#, then on the next page you will need to ensure Ops-Emergency Services is in the left hand field and the correct ES specialty (in this case “GES”) is in the right hand field.
  • Enter the date of the CAPT 116 (GES Questionnaire) completion and click on the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page.
  • Click on “101 Card” in the menu on the left. If prompted, enter your CAPID# and click on the magnifying glass.
  • When your 101 appears scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the hypertexted “click here to print”.

*File will be opened and/or saved in PDF format so you will need the Adobe Acrobat application or the Adobe Reader

** The GES Questionnaire is an open book test. Refer to texts CAPR 60-3 and CAPR 173-3 at any time by opening with hyperlinks on the same page as the questionnaire and minimizing the documents for later referral. Adobe Acrobat application or Adobe Reader are required.
